A fifty five-year-old man and his wife of Tripura community died of diarrhoea hitting the death toll to four in remote Sajek area under Bhagaichari upazila of Rangamati district on Saturday early hours.
The deceased were identified as Bahon Tripura, 55 and his wife Melati Tripura, 50 of Betling Para said Dr Arabinda Chakma, Health and family planning officer of Bhagaichari upazila.
“The victims went to visit their son-in-law who was afflicted with diarrhoea at Longtian Para recently and affected on Friday morning. Later they died on Saturday early hours”, he said.
“In the span of ten days, four people, including a husband and his wife have died of diarrhoea and around 50 others have been affected in some remote areas of Sajek union”, said Joipoye Thang, a ward member of Sajek union.
In 2016, six people died of diarrhoea in the area, he said.
