Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP), an organisation of indigenous students at a human chain called on the government to ensure five percent indigenous quota in all higher educational institutions.
The speakers also urged to resolve the shortage of teachers in all educational institutions of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) and speedy handover of secondary education to Hill District Councils following the CHT Peace Accord.
Other points include giving primary education in their mother languages, introducing free education system and scholarships for Jumma students from primary level to higher secondary level, increasing the number of honors and masters courses in Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban government colleges and immediately implementing CHT peace accord fully, among others.
PCP Rangamati unit formed the human chain at district deputy commissioner’s office area on Saturday.
Presided over by Jico Chakma, vice president of PCP Rangamati unit the meeting was attended by Sumon Marma, president of PCP central committee.
PCP co organizing secretary Ronel Chakma, Sonarita Chakma, general secretary of Rangamati District Committee of Hill Women’s Federation, PCP Rangamati town unit organizing secretary Suresh Chakma, and PCP Rangamati Government College unit organizing secretary Suniti Vikas Chakma spoke among others.
