An indigenous woman was publicly stabbed to death in Chittagong’s Rangunia upazila on Sunday night.
The victim was identified as Champa Chakma, 26 of Rangamati’s Bandukbanga area said police.
Champa was an assistant manager (loan) of Rangunia Hochnabad branch of Padakhep NGO said, Md Mahbub Milki, Officer-in Charge (OC) of Rangunia police station.
“One Md. Enamul Haque, 28, a loan holder of the NGO hacked Champa at Dhamairhat area of the upazila publicly at around 8:30 pm while she was returning to house from her workplace”, said the OC.
Critically injured Champa with her throat-slit, was rushed to Rangunia Upazilla health complex, where doctors declared her dead, said the OC, adding “We will arrest the criminal soon.”
“Enamul might have killed Champa over loan repayment dispute while we are investigating more to know the details”, the OC said.
After several times attempt assistant director of Padakhep Chittagong region didn’t receive the call.
